Jim Brasher
Senior Partner, New York
Jim Brasher has served for more than 35 years as the chief strategist, designer and implementer of groundbreaking innovations in resource development, communications, public private partnerships, philanthropic consulting and global philanthropy.
The continuing success of the institutions, projects and programs he helped develop are testament to the lasting strategic and operational value of his work.
Executives of global corporations, officers of development assistance and other government agencies, leaders of major foundations, philanthropists, and a former US president have called on Jim's knowledge to translate their visions into realities. Jim joined Project Resource Group as a Senior Partner in 2008, reuniting with other partners with whom he had previously worked at The Carter Center in a range of areas, including global health, mental health, peace and sustainability. His vast experience adds strength to our strategic advising services. Jim is a board member of Future Generations, a global NGO and Graduate School and his personal hobbies include "building green", gardening, wood and metal working and renovating and/or restoring old houses - 33 projects to date and counting.
Jim has served as the Chief Development Officer to the Touch Foundation; Synergos; the Center for Strategic and International Studies; and The Carter Center. One of his finest accomplishments was pioneering the development of experiential education for intergenerational philanthropic families through the founding of the Global Philanthropists Circle at Synergos. Through this program he led learning journeys to developing countries for philanthropists from around the world to deeply investigate and develop solutions to problems of poverty, health and inequities. Jim also served as Director of Programs and Special Assistant to the Secretary General for the World Conference of Religions for Peace, as well as a Director of Marts & Lundy and President and CEO of the Troy State University Foundation. In these positions, he organized and managed the fundraising operations; designed and conducted historic capital and special cause campaigns; built new donor constituencies; met challenging fundraising goals to enable dynamic institutional and programmatic expansion; developed high performing staff teams; built partnerships among unlikely and diverse donors; and conceived creative new fundraising and communications strategies. He holds an MBA in Management and B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Memphis and completed coursework for a PhD in Economics and Finance from the University of Alabama.
